The origin of this project started 3 years ago in 2019, as a part of Julia Obermaier’s graduation for her master’s thesis. One part of it was “The 6th C – Care”, in it she created a series of pins and 50% of the sales went to the social organisation Botswana Labour Migrants Association — BoLAMA. BoLAMA is a non-profit organisation that advocates for former diamond miners and their families, e.g., by giving them access to social security benefits.
Kiss and Tale
Since my work is focused on women this piece was no exception. More importantly, I am focusing on those who are affected by violence, and experience trauma that is usually silenced. Thus, a work of reconstruction must be done: a recollection of thoughts to reawaken the memories, to re-develop the speech, because traumas have no form.
These pieces are for those lips that express, that open, that communicate, that provoke, that kiss.
And for all those that do not.
For the silenced and the silences.
